Individual taxpayers fall into tax brackets ranging from 2.56% to 6.84%, with the highest bracket coming in around $27,000. Standard deduction is $5,450 and double that for married couples. In addition, a tax credit of $120 per person is taken out. Social security and pensions are taxable the same as how the federal taxes them. Nebraska's estate tax has been repealed. Sales tax is 5.5% but localities can add up to 2% additional on top of that.
